Duty-Free Shopping? Welcome to Colon!

I can’t quite believe I’m back in Colon. I’m not talking about my favorite shopping and dining spot in Cebu City, Philippines the ever popular Colon Street but to no other than the port city of Colon in Panama.

Who loves duty-free shopping? Well, the place may not be receiving so much positive reviews in Trip Advisor as a shopping destination but I would mention that Colon is actually a go-to place for duty-free shopping. Yes it is!

About 15 to 20 minutes walk from where our ship docked is Colon’s duty-free zone. Everything from perfumes, clothing, jewelries, souvenirs to household and office items, you can get it from here. If you are good in haggling, you can get items at discounted prices.

Fake goods or original? Well, I would say activating your instinct is the best idea. And of course common sense matters. Here’s a tip: Would you buy a Bulgari or Prada perfume with blurry texts in the packaging? This may not be the only factor to check before verifying a product’s authenticity but it works most of the times – at least for me.

I enjoy the seas but I love the less demanding life in a farm more than anything else. While I find myself caught between personal life and work, I still manage to make time doing the one thing that I enjoy – BLOGGING.
