From Alesund to Newcastle: Serene North Sea

AlesundWe are currently sailing across the North Sea, making our way back to Newcastle, UK, after spending an entire day in Alesund, the last port we visited in Norway. The sea is serene, and the wind is blowing ever so gently, just as everyone on board wanted.

Looking at the photos I took while we were docked in Alesund, my mind wanders back to the incredible views from the ship’s bridge. The city’s skyline is unique, not dominated by towering buildings, but rather by small structures like quaint groceries, cozy cafes, bustling offices, hotels, and charming shops, to name a few. I reminisce about my last visit to this place sometime last year and realize that I must have been inside one of these buildings.

Despite the onset of summer, the temperature here is still relatively chilly, and I find myself yearning for the sweltering heat of the Philippine summer. Although not everyone may share my preference, I personally enjoy warm weather over cooler temperatures. When it gets too hot, I can simply take my family to the nearest cold spring resort in my town.

Arriving UK tomorrow marks the end of this 5-night cruise and I can’t help but feel excited about the ship’s upcoming itinerary. Of course, I’ve had an amazing time visiting Norway, but I’m equally looking forward to visiting other places. So, I’m eagerly anticipating Balmoral’s next cruise itinerary, and that is to the charming river cities of France and Portugal.

I enjoy the seas but I love the less demanding life in a farm more than anything else. While I find myself caught between personal life and work, I still manage to make time doing the one thing that I enjoy – BLOGGING.
