Heading out of Antarctica, we passed by King George Island and admired the fantastic scenery there. Though not the last and final point of interest to be visited, we made sure we didn’t missed even a fraction of the stunning landscape right before our eyes.
King George Island is a Chilean colony. It has few structures including housing for scientists doing research. These includes researchers from South Korea, Russia, China, Japan, US, etc. I spotted few whales and penguins in the area too but not as many as we had seen in Paradise Bay, Cuverville Island, Puerto Neko, Doumer Island and Port Lockroy.
The whales, the penguins, the majestic glaciers in the Antarctic – they’re all so WOW! Never seen before this eyes-fixating and enchanting landscape!
From King George Island, we sailed closed to Elephant Island before finally left Antarctica and started heading to our next port which is Port Stanley in Falkland Islands.
