First stop of cruise ship Balmoral’s come-back cruise since the pandemic is La Coruna in Spain. La Coruna is a Spanish port city just along the coast within the Bay of Biscay. When I say Bay of Biscay, I actually refer to that gulf in the northeast Atlantic Ocean having a reputation for rough seas and bad weather. Though that’s what the area is known for, yesterday the Bay of Biscay was friendly and calm.
I was thinking earlier about where to go when we get to La Coruna. Being a mariner, I would really love to visit the Hercules Tower, Europe’s oldest working lighthouse. I do not know how far it is from the port or how to get there, but for sure, it really must be a very interesting site to visit. That’s a must-visit for me, only if I have the chance. And today, it definitely isn’t the time.
With sunny skies and 18 degrees Celsius, it is not bad to go out and explore the town. But I just stayed on the ship and carry on with LSA checks. If La Coruna is somewhere down in the Mediterranean side of Spain, for sure I will find myself walking around downtown enjoying the April sun.
Just want to share this photo below. I took this on my way to the lifeboats today. Isn’t La Coruna stunning?
