Mahayahay Mountain View | Things To Know Before You Go

Mahayahay Mountain View is one of the getaways worth visiting in the province of Lanao del Norte. But I have no idea this place exists until the wanderlust in me awakened. So, after several months opting to stay at home because of the pandemic, I finally came up with a plan and I knew exactly where I was headed to. Of course to Mahayahay Mountain View, one of Lanao del Norte’s hidden pandemic getaways.

Frankly speaking, I never heard about Mahayahay Mountain View. But not until recently when tons of photos of the place began trending on my Facebook feeds. Watching from the photos, I got this very insistent urge telling me that I really have to visit that place. So off I went and experienced Mahayahay Mountain View first hand.

Where is Mahayahay Mountain View located?

Situated in Brgy. Mahayahay in the municipality of Kapatagan, the approximately 20 to 30 minutes drive to the place is exciting and scenic. To wind up that the experience starts at the very moment when you arrived at the place is an underrated conclusion because the experience actually begins from the moment you exit from the highway and starts the drive following a winding road and into the hills.

Budget Tips:

Make sure to bring bottled water and food packs before heading to Mahayahay Mountain View. Of course, these items cost cheaper if you buy these from the town center.

Take Instagramable Selfies to the Next Level

Mahayahay Mountain ViewIt was my first time driving in this outskirt area of Kapatagan, so choosing the correct road to Mahayahay Mountain View from the few crossroads along the main road is EXCITING – excitingly tricky I should say. There are no directional signs so chances are you’re most likely get lost than finding the place unless you’ll stop every now and then and ask friendly locals for direction.

And YES, the views along the way is scenic – that’s how I described all the greeneries of vegetations, grasses and coconut trees consistently dominating the views all the way up to Mahayahay Mountain View.

And when you’re at the place, bring your skills in the art of taking selfies to the next level with the must-do photo ops. Point and shoot with your camera and take instagramable photos in every angle.

Getting To Mahayahay Mountain View

By Public Transport to Jump Off Point

If you plan on getting there by public transport, a habal habal is the most likely mode of transport you’ll be getting. The habal habal will take you right to the jump off point to Mahayahay Mountain View.

Brgy. Mahayahay where Mahayahay Mountain View is located is roughly 6 kilometers away from the town of Kapatagan. With good and concrete roads, getting to Brgy. Mahayahay from the town even in rainy season is not a problem. (The pathway leading to the actual site of Mountain View is another story.)

By Private Vehicle to Jump Off Point

Bringing your own vehicle to Mahayahay Mountain View is of course the fastest and most convenient option but finding a place to park exactly at the jump off point is not guaranteed. The space is too small and it might be already occupied by other vehicles when you get there. You may opt to park your car at the base of the ascend (the safest) or if you are confident enough with your parking skills, you can park your car halfway of the road ascend. (too risky.)

From Jump Off Point to site of Mahayahay Mountain View

From the jump off point, you still have to walk for about 10 minutes to the actual site of Mahayahay Mountain View. The walk is ascending and there is no proper pathway. Just follow the steep footpath which can be very slippery especially after a rainfall.
