While it may be inconvenient for most people to visit places during the pandemic, traveling around the Philippines has never really made a complete standstill, especially, not in areas where a retreat would make much sense due to their relative seclusion and tranquillity. With many places tightening up security for controlling the spread of COVID – 19 infection, visiting places around the country is still doable and possible. Do note that while we’re still in the pandemic, you might encounter certain requirements and restrictions before you could visit places.
El Nido
One of the best things that make El Nido, Palawan a perfect destination is in its expansive waters and, depending on your level of mobility, dynamic environments. With literally a wide space to cover, you can wander places in El Nido and lose yourself in the bliss that comes with it. Even if you are not the exploring type, there are certain areas in this tourist haven that provides ample space away from the crowd for an essential “me time”. If there is a place in the country that will give you peace of mind, this particular spot in Palawan is it.
Boracay
When all the news is tainted with talks about the pandemic, sometimes all you need is a location where you’ll be reminded that the world is still a safe space to live in. But what is a better reminder of this notion than in Boracay where everyone you will meet is guaranteed COVID-19-free due to strict screening and where the scenery is beautifully preserved to be a sanctuary? You might be the thinking type to merely want to cherish the experience in Boracay. But for others, part of the fun is the various activities that you can do while in it, be it on water or land.
Coron
Yet another location to be found in Palawan, Coron is known as the country’s “Last Ecological Frontier”—and the visuals clearly show. While it is famous for having the cleanest lakes, fantastic lagoons, and mesmerizing white sand beaches, people who visit Coron also like to go underwater deep for its hidden display of wrecked ships. Inevitably, making a hotspot out of them among scuba divers.
Tagaytay
Tagaytay is a city of Cavite that is known for its highlands. With an elevation that is tall enough to see the greater expanse of the region and the nearby places, it is no wonder it is also a place that overlooks the famous Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. Being at a relatively high altitude also comes a unique perk when it comes to climate, too—it is usually cool, if not cold, which makes it a perfect destination at a time when it gets hot in the lowlands.
Laguna
A popular go-to among the Manila residents for its proximity, Laguna is more so a popular place to visit for its preserved natural landscape. Its dense rainforests are rich in vegetation and it is also a host to the prominent Pagsanjan Falls. If you are not yet a firm believer of the healing that comes with getting close to nature, you probably have not spent much time in a place like this in Laguna.
