I had dinner with my friend and classmate in high school last night. We went to this restaurant called Mesa (Mesa Filipino Moderne) on the 2nd floor in Robinsons Place Ermita. The restaurant has over 60 outlets (and counting) within Metro Manila and in the provinces nationwide, so for sure, there should be one close to my home province in Mindanao. When I say ‘close’ that means it’s either a 3 to 4 hours travel from where I live.
THE FOOD
What you’ll find on the menu are typical and indulging Filipino comfort foods – name all your all-time Filipino favorites and you’ll find it.
MONEY-SAVING TIP
Here’s my money-saving tip and for sure you’ll thank me for this. As soon as you walk into the restaurant and are ushered to the table, you will have to select your order from a digital menu tablet. There’s plenty of choices but if you want to fast-track in the ordering, just look for the restaurant’s combo offerings. Why opt for the combo? Well, it’s too obvious – you’ll get your money’s worth, and trust me, you’ll find the food in the combo package irresistible.
Check the restaurant’s meal combo package photos below. These photos are not mine, I grabbed them from Mesa Filipino Moderne’s page on Facebook.
In general, the cost of dining at Mesa Filipino Moderne ranges between “not too high and not too low” – it’s in between. But taking into account the ambiance of the place, the taste, and food presentation, one wouldn’t mind the cost (at all).
And by the way, before I’ll end this post, I would like to thank Ariel Q. (he’s a very private person) for the treat. Have a safe flight tomorrow. Next time, dinner is on me.
